If you really want to power the Blue Wave in 2024, you should spend more time and effort supporting key races in state legislatures. And in our new piece on GitHub, we tell you how Blue Ripple can help!
Dem donors can have a much bigger impact on national politics by supporting key candidates in state legislatures than giving those same dollars to US House, US Senate, or Presidential candidates. (We’ve previously made this case here, here, and here.) But there are a lot of those races, and it often hard to figure out which races matter.
This is a particular issue for donor organizers: individuals and groups that help advise small-dollar Dem donors on where to give their money. At events, trainings, and events hosted by the Donor Organizer Hub, we’ve heard that donor organizers need help identifying the highest-priority state legislature races.
At Blue Ripple, we’ve spent several years developing and optimizing an election model to find the biggest “bang for buck” opportunities in state legislatures. In our new post, we describe three concrete applications of our model:
Identifying “flippable” and “vulnerable” state legislature districts
Testing the potential impact on election outcomes of targeted GOTV and messaging efforts
Identifying “double word score” opportunities to help Dems in overlapping state legislature and US House districts
For our fellow data geeks, we also provide in the GitHub post more details on how our model works and what we’ve done to optimize the quality of guidance we can extract from it.
If you work with Dem donors and want to help them support state legislature races, please read the post and then get in touch with us to chat about how we can work together! We are eager to use our model to help donor organizers enable Dems’ success in 2024 and beyond.
